We finally took in the incredible Jardim Zoologico de Maputo. If you go into it expecting the worst, it's not bad at all. Actually, it's very interesting in an archeological investigation sort of way. The feeling is similar to walking through Roman ruins and wondering what it was like in its heyday. The selection of animals is tiny: vervet monkeys, a hippo, baboons and crocodiles. Thomas loved it. If anything, it's a mostly-safe area to run around (there were a few shady characters and some street boys who crawled through an opening in the fence.
